Sorel Etrog (1933 - 2014) is arguably Canada's most famous sculptor.

The "Key Head" is one of Etrog's most famous motifs - appearing in , drawings and beginning around 1964.

This desk-top sized example is a paradigm of Etrog's mysterious and inspiring forms that resist classification towards abstraction or representational. Etrog's dark and poetic works elaborate on many of the questions and concerns raised by Existentialists. The relationship between the "key" and man's consciousness or capability is explored by the artist throughout the decade and led to an impressive international career. 

Today, Etrog's works can be found in numerous museum and private collections around the world including the Tate, the AGO and LACMA. His public sculptures can be found on iconic corners in Toronto, Montreal, Israel and beyond.
